Brentwood Imperial Youth Band
On Thursday 16 January 2025, Mrs Thurlow and some Billericay School students travelled overnight on a very long coach journey to Bremen in Germany to perform with the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band in the Bremen Tattoo. Along with around 800 other musicians from the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, Ukraine, Mexico, China, Scotland and Northern Ireland they took part in two performances on Saturday and one on Sunday afternoon to around 12000 members of the audience.
Alongside these amazing musical performances they also visited Becklingen cemetery where 2000 British and commonwealth WW2 soldiers are buried. We took part in our own small remembrance service and a few trumpeters played the last post as we laid a wreath at the grave of our band directors great Uncle who sadly died just a few weeks before the end of the war. This was a very special weekend where Mrs Thurlow and the members of the Brentwood Imperial Youth band represented the UK in a fantastic way!
